Ever hear the commonly used saying “Time is money”? This saying goes through my mind every time I load up the kids to head out of town to go shopping (not very often.)
Time spent in the car traveling out of town to complete shopping lists (of any size), costs more money than you actually spend in the store. :/
Gas, babysitter, time on the road, mileage, restaurant….. and the list can go on…
Here are 5 Ways to save in a small town (or a town of any size) when you are out and about.
5. Shopping off the ads
I had an ah-ha moment on this one a few years ago. Did you know that Ad’s run in cycles ??
Really… it was mind-blowing… and quite often if you check out coupon inserts, and couponing aps they will have deals that coincide with what is actually on sale (or will be in a few days/weeks).

4. Keeping your eyes open
Checking out the local papers, websites, bulletin boards in businesses & restaurants.
Recently, while I was attending a local restaurant, I noticed that there was a cute flier talking about the great deal you would be able to get just by checking into the restaurant on social media.
Checking out the quick sale section that a majority of stores offer are also a great way to save. Often this section will have items that are expired or close to expiration date, but sometimes they will have items that are reduced for quick sale just because they had a news design.
One of my favorite deals was last winter when I was able to pick up a package of diapers that I essentially made money on because they had an extremely reduced price, I was able to use coupons, plus I was able to use my favorite coupon ap on top of that.

Another way to save or make money I often will use is local Facebook garage sale sites for both selling and purchasing items. I have been able to get some pretty awesome deals over the years, and I have been able to sell a wide variety of items that we no longer use/need.
3. Follow them on social media.
Following local businesses on Social media provide a great notification of many of neat things like contests, deals, promotions, coupons, and ads.
2. Stocking up when you are out of town.
With this, I am not trying discourage shopping locally. I am just encouraging you to stock up on items that you may not be able to purchase in town. Thus, you are having to make less frequent trips out of town.
1. Sign up for their email/mailing list.
This one is by far one of my favorite (and easiest) ways to save. Signing up for a restaurants, businesses, stores, or community organization’s emailing or mailing list can provide MANY benefits. My favorite benefit would be receiving fantastic coupons for my birthday, receiving notification of great deals going on in the store, and receiving notification of any upcoming events.
