I am back for the second installment of Parkpoloza – NW Iowa . If you missed the first installment on Memorial Park Spirit Lake, IA. You can check it out here..
This second park that I am featuring is also located in the “Great Lakes” region of Iowa, or Okoboji. This park is most often refereed to as the Dickinson County Nature Center.
I featured the Nature Center Last winter for all of the AWESOME activities that go on at the center,
and also because of the AMAZING gift shop they have there….
Yes, along with an assortment of shirts, toys, and the classic gift store gifts, they also have the BEST BUG-SPRAY EVER… Bug soother… Try it..
Being a stay-at-home mom in a small town in the Midwest has its definite perks, as well as the definite downfalls (winter & rainy days). But the nature center and the awesome indoor/outdoor activities as well as the many different environmental education programs for all ages throughout the entire year.
Two of our favorite programs that we have participated in are the Bee & Butterfly Festival and also the
 Nature Playtime for Tots program.
Upstairs
Upstairs they have several different neat things available:
They have the gift shop I earlier mentioned.
A small photo gallery containing the entrants for past photo contests at the nature center.

Outside
Butterfly House
Is open yearly from June – August, but the butterflies begin to take an active presence July-August.
Every year they have an awesome festival Bee & Butterfly Festival celebrating and educating the attendees on both the bee & butterfly.
We will be attending the Butterfly House within the next few weeks, watch for a post đŸ™‚

atThis place has the makings of everything great. I don’t have kiddos but I do have a little nephew and he loves hands on. It’s a great way to learn. This place looks fun!

atThis looks like fun! The tepee and the Butterfly House would probably be my favorites. They look awesome! I bet your kiddos had so much fun.
