As you all may or may not know I was given the opportunity to attend the Minnesota State Fair Preview Day, it was amazing, and delicious. I will be writing several posts on my experience, and on the Minnesota State Fair in general as a countdown to this years “great get together”. The first post will be on the food because lets be honest the Minnesota fair food is A-Mazing..

MINNESOTA MADE FOOD

Tot Boss

Who doesn’t love a good Tot? This tasty food truck turned MN State Fair Vendor takes tator tots to the next level, serving them with a variety of different configurations: bacon wrapped tots, loaded tots, chili tots, tots ‘n’ tenders, tots ‘n’ dogs and the list can go on… they also offer a variety of different dipping sauces as well as a gluten free option.

State Fair Location: on the east side of Underwood street between Wright and Dan patch avenues, south of Kidway.

French Meadow Bakery & Cafe

Rustic Beef Pastry

This tasty cafe is the first Certified Organic Bakery in the USA! They began baking organic yeast-free bread in 1985. They have been serving gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, local, organic and natural foods ever since the early 90’s. In 2013 they expanded to include Bluestem Bar, offering full table service, a selection of sustainable wines and local taps, and a private dining room. Finally in early 2014 they opened the second French Meadow Cafe on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul near the Macalester College Campus.

Minnesota Corn Dog

Yes Minnesota Corndog… It is like a Minnesota Breakfast on a stick. Ground sausage made with blueberries, apples, wild rice, and maple syrup. Another awesome dish to start your feast at the fair.

State Fair Location: They are located on the west side of Cooper Street between Dan Patch and Judson Ave., outside the southeast corner of the Food Building.

Minnesnowii Shave Ice

100% sweetened condensed milk drizzled over your flavor of choice shaved ice, creates a creamy taste to the traditional sweet flavor. My personal recommendation is the Root Beer Float Shaved Ice. They also have several other awesome flavors like Maple Bacon Flavored Shaved Ice!!

Grilled Cheese Bites

Grilled Cheese has been one of my cravings for baby #3 so naturally I was pretty pumped to have Grilled Cheese bite-sized and beer battered…What can make deep fried grilled cheese better?? Serve this delicious food with their own Bloody Mary Mix Marinara. SERIOUSLY… try this dish LOVE…

Cheesy French Onion Monkey Bread

In all honesty, I am not much of an onion person, but had to try this tasty dish with the AMAZING french onion aroma it created during preview day, and guess what!? I liked it, and I’m pretty sure you will like it also 😉

SW Minnesota Local

Several local restaurants will be participating in an event at the Minnesota State Fair on Sunday August 28th, 2016 called Minnesota Cooks Day at the Minnesota Fair. The event is designed to educate consumers about the importance of supporting and buying local foods. They will be having cooking demonstrations, discussions with chefs, cooks, farmers, local media and political celebrities. Stop by Carousel Park and enjoy FREE food samples from some of the states best restaurants and chefs.
