I will be the first to admit that our life is a little chaotic at the moment.
With my daughter in school 3 full days a week and in dance.
With a son that NEVER sits still, is into EVERYTHING, and doesn’t believe in sleeping at night or during the day.
With a baby girl that can come any day, and I really haven’t started getting ready for her arrival.
With my husbands busy/demanding day job schedule, then farming in the evenings.
Life is crazy.
With our busy schedule some days it feels like the kids & I are CONSTANTLY on the go.
Here are 5 Easy tips to help prevent the chaos while on the go, or at least cut down on it a little bit.
Here are 5 Easy tips for preventing the chaos while on the go.
Pack an ample amount of Snacks, drinks, or sippy/spill proof cups for later use.
When planning snacks, pack twice as much as you think you would need, really.
I try to pack healthier options, in snack sized portions. It doesn’t always work that way, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
One of my favorite healthy toddler snack brands is Gerber, and we LOVE the new Lil’ Beanies by Gerber. My kids enjoyed a similar EXTREMELY unhealthy similar version that is easily available in snack size containers. So when I noticed that they looked extremely similar and had a coupon, I thought hey why not try and see how this HEALTHY option goes over, and they loved it. Great snacks, at a great price, and have great flavor.
My on the go solution: on the back of the container on the nutrition section of the label, it has serving size & how many servings you get per container. Repack the snacks into plastic or reusable snack containers in advance (is done pretty quick) to avoid grabbing the unhealthy version rather than the healthy alternative, while you are on the go.
Dividing up the containers of snacks into snack sized portion also helps prevent snack overeating, and likely saves you money.
Plus it is easier to find coupons for them 😉
Plan ahead (when you will leave, what you will bring, where you are going).
Planning ahead is a little step that makes a HUGE difference with our family from a ball park idea of when we will leave, what way we will take and any stops we will make along the way, what you will have for any meals before, during or after you leave…
With the exception of any “unplanned potty breaks”.
This step will help help you feel more confident as a “troup leader” and prevent any chaos and confusion that you may have as well as likely saving you both time and money.
Clean your car OFTEN, enlisting your kids for help. (wipes, travel sized garbage, plastic bags,
Traveling in any vehicle with kids (especially toddlers) is HARD. I am amazed how a little thing like having a clean car can help ease the comfort and chaos inside the car for every one (both the driver and passenger. )
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Keep an extra phone charger. napkins, wet wipes, a small garbage (or even a makeshift one), and a group of plastic bags that you can use for easy disposal nice and handy.. Just in case one of those “unexpected events” comes your way.
If it is for a longer trip, visit the library before you leave (books on cd/cassette. ipads/kindles, computer games, DVD’s, travel & games.
Our Local Library is typically one of our go to spots before we go on any trip over 1 hour. Yes, we do not have permanent devices in our vehicles which I LOVE, to prevent over screen used. Out of sight, out of mind. While we are at the library, we will pick up an assortment of cds, books, DVD’s, ipad, and books on CD. We love this option because we are able to get ample methods of entertainment, for little to very no price. WIN.

atYes! I agree with all these!!! I also bought my kids one of those lunch boxes that folds flat in the freezer with built in ice packs and that’s what we use to carry any fruit/drinks/turkey/etc!
