- This is a sponsored post. I have been compensated fro attending the Minnesota Ice Castles, but all opinions are my own.
We were in desperate need for some family time.
Like we haven’t had a family vacation EVER.
Work, livestock, farming, babies, school and the list could go on of reasons why we just haven’t slipped away for a little bit for just our little family of five. Finally the opportunity arrived, when we got the opportunity to attend the Minnesota Ice Castles, as a family in Stillwater, MN.
The weather was AMAZING. It was 55 degrees out the day we were scheduled to attend the Ice Castles, this weather is basically nonresistant in Minnesota in February. I knew that a lot of people would be attending the Ice Castles because of the beautiful weather and the fact that it was nearing the end of their winter season. We were able to get away with dressing the kids in light layers, but snow boots, snow pants, and gloves were still an absolute must.
The Ice Castles require to get your tickets online in advance for the event, and just show them the QR code that shows up in your confirmation email. I love this, I didn’t have to worry about loosing my ticket, dealing with cash/cards, and we were guaranteed to get into the event that day at the particular time our reservations were at. My husband not so much, he would rather pay at the gate when we get to an event. I am the planner in our family.
Our reservations were for 4pm, which allowed us to travel from southern Mn to the twin cities during nap time, which worked out fabulous! Everyone rested during the trip (minus dad & mom).
When we arrived at the Castles there was just a few people. By the time we left it was PACKED.
There were people willing to help, take pictures, and keep the castles in tip-top shape throughout the castle.
The ice castles had a DELICIOUS snack shop, with yummy homemade goodies.
We spent most of our time in the maze, and also on the smaller slides.
On weekends they also had Anna & Elsa at the Ice Castles.
There were many friendly people asking if we needed help, had questions, or wanted them to take our pictures… some turned out like the one directly above 🙂
Overall, WE LOVED it, would HIGHLY recommend it, and hope to go back next year. Everyone was SO NICE & helpful the entire time. Even my husband seemed to have fun. I had heard that it was hard to get parking spots, but since we were there on a weekday afternoon, we definitely did not have that problem.
