As a parent, Christmas can be a little intense at times. If it isn’t for you, please let me in on your secret.
Making Cookies.
Decorating the tree, the house, and gifts for others.
Making Memories.
Traveling to all the different gatherings, programs, and parties.
And shopping… who can forget Christmas shopping.
Over the last few years I have become a strong advocate on the advantage of either shopping on line (AMAZON) or shopping in town.
These shopping methods are able to give me the most shopping and time for my buck. I live in a small town that is blesses with many fantastic little businesses and shops within 15 minutes of my home.
Shopping close to home and online, gives me the opportunity to spend my precious time close to the holidays, doing other things instead of hitting the mega mall 1-2 hours away.
I can spend time with the special people in my life (husband, kids, family & friends) doing meaningful things locally making memories rather than waiting in traffic, lines in stores, or shifting through picked over shelves and racks at large department stores.
Early December before the chaos of Christmas fully started I attended a local Holiday Fest in Jackson MN. Because I was done Christmas shopping, baking, wrapping, and decorating.
Towards the end of 2016 I came up with a lofty goal of running/ walking 1 5k a month for a year. For December 2016 I planned on doing to 5k that was organized to benefit the local soon-to-be splash pad, well the morning of the 5k I was running 5 minutes late (#momlife) and I was 5 minutes late for the 5k many 5k’s that I’ve done in the past have been starting 5-15 minutes late but this group was prompt with a group of speedy runners and I missed the race started with my kids in tow… so what did we do… we cheered the racers on.. #communityovercompetition .
We then went and Checked out the many different activities that were going on at the Local Elementary School

Tailgating before the Holiday Parade
Enjoying the Holiday Parade with Friends
Enjoying the Firework Display, the fireworks were one of their favorites. I am a stickler on a 7:30-8:00 bedtime, which makes fireworks during the summer impossible, which made the early fireworks time (because it is already dark out) an AMAZING opportunity.
