A few weeks ago, at a play date, several of the other mommies were talking about grocery shopping, stocking up, menu planning, freezer meals (you know several of my favorite things) and I of course had to chirp in about one of my little secrets to having a low grocery budget, Aldi Food Mart (Aldi). The closest Aldi is over a hour away (have you noticed the common theme with a lot of stores and where we live). We typically shop at our hometown grocery store (Maynards), but whenever we are in Mankato we make a quick stop at Aldi for some of their great deals.
I first discovered Aldi when I attended college in St. Paul MN. They opened one a few blocks away from the university, and I have been in love with their LOW prices since.
Aldi is ran a little different than the traditional grocery store, but if you get over the differences, and how it is a little different every time, and love produce at GREAT prices you will be great friends.
With that here is this weeks TidBit Thursday 🙂
The 411 on Aldi
Bring your own bags (reusable or non) or use their boxes (like Sam’s Club)
Bring a quarter. Put in a quarter take out a cart, put back a cart get back a quarter.
Check out the ap/website I LOVE their App it has a shopping list section, their weekly ad plus next week’s ad.
Know your prices... Most of their prices are lower than low…. but some prices are the same that you could get at any other store.
They don’t take coupons…. but you can still add to the savings with several money saving Apps. The two apps listed below are two of my favorites, and they can be used at any store that can print off an itemized receipt for you 🙂 YAY for small town grocery stores!! The apps listed below are free, but if you use my links I am able to get a “referral bonus” in my own personal account for the app.
No Credit Cards/WIC/food stamps etc… (you can use Cash, Debit, & EBT cards)
